Oh the places you’ll go! Everyone knows the military can potentially move you around to some pretty cool places, but why wait for your next assignment to see a new place?

I know leave isn’t easy to come by, but you might be surprised at how many places are within the travel radius from every base. And, depending on your spouse’s rank, he or she may qualify for weekend passes which don’t deduct from your leave. Make sure they ask their leadership about it!

If your active duty member can’t come with you, it’s still important to carve out time for yourself to get away every once in a while. Plan a trip with fellow spouses or meet up with an old friend from back home. It’ll be good for your headspace to get away from base where it can start to feel like your whole life revolves around your spouse, your family or the military. It doesn’t! Besides, a mental reset will just make you a stronger support system for your family when you return.
